SmartLipo is the newest technological advance in the area of liposuction and fat removal procedures. Liposuction has been used for years to help individuals remove excess fat deposits from various areas of the body. In November of 2006, the United States FDA approved this new method of liposuction for use throughout the country.

So what is SmartLipo? SmartLipo was developed to be a gentler and less invasive fat removal method than traditional liposuction. The laser will also come in contact with the collagen that is found naturally within the skin, causing it to tighten and firm within a few weeks of the procedure.

The SmartLipo procedure is relatively pain free and does not require the use of general anesthetics, which eliminates the fear of “going under” that concerns many patients. SmartLipo does not require incisions in the skin. Over the counter pain relievers, as directed by your doctor, are all it should take to relieve any discomfort associated with the procedure.

To make things even better, the recovery period from a SmartLipo procedure is incredibly short. The discomfort itself will generally only last for 2-3 days and the working individual should be able to get back to the office within 1 day of the procedure.

Most people require 2-3 treatments per area. Cosmetic centers usually have you wait anywhere from four to six months before having additional treatments in the same area. The area where the SmartLipo procedure is completed will begin to show results very soon after the treatment, but full results won’t be visible for approximately 1 ½ - 2 months.
